A customer wanted to use an assortment of Bimba cylinders in a clean room environment. Bimba’s engineers created a solution to solve this increasingly common design request—actuators designed for clean room service.
Bimba developed a round line cylinder design concept that can be applied to any cylinder bore size and stroke length. The design consists of an auxiliary port placed at the rod end side of the cylinder. Applying vacuum to this port allows for continuous removal of contamination that may circumvent the enhanced rod sealing technology. Additionally, the front head includes a plastic rod bushing to eliminate any debris resulting from metal on metal contact. In addition, Bimba an optional lubricant to prevent off-gassing that can occur with traditional lubricants is available upon request.
This clean room design can be fitted to almost all Bimba cylinders.
